If you know me by now, you know I race cars as a hobby / sport. I have been racing now for 4 years and plan to until I can’t anymore. Through the years of racing you come to an understanding that there are some quotes, people and situations that are distinctly “racing”. One of my favorites and most popular situations (I say situations because its a person, movie, event and a quote all rolled into one) is Steve McQueen in LeMans.

Upon entering our small, modernly amended hotel room in Biarritz, France I was immediately at home. Small model race cars adorned the shelves, large murals of vintage Porsche and Ferrari racing starts were in the lobby, and it looked like Porsche Design had a hand in the completion of the interior decor. Let’s just say my wife knows me quite well. In our room, on the side of the bed that has become mine through 8 years of being with Sarah – there it was, the quote. Awesome.

Apart from the hotel, Biarritz did not disappoint.   The area we were in, close to the casino and the beach felt almost manufactured because it was so meticulously maintained.  The people were very nice and the food was decent. Unfortunately we couldn’t get into the restaurant we wanted to, but a small Brasserie called “La Coupole” saved the day with a standard snack fare.

Next stop – San Sebastian. There will be food.
