Waiting for a train…
One thing that is new to me here in Europe compared to other trips I have taken is waiting for a train. I know that sounds strange so let me put it in context. I am a driver. Europe is a driving Mecca for people that like cars and open, winding roads with speed limits for sane people. This trip however, I wanted to completely relax as I am about to start what I consider phase 3 of my start-up.
Taking the train is a perfect way to experience any country here, especially when traveling between them. You can eat, more importantly drink, throughout your travels. Stay sharp, as you have a very limited time to find your track, coach number and then your seat. Most people that work at the stations are polite – but you should know a few keys phrases to get along.
One thing that is apparent, buy your tickets a few days prior to travel at a station. Do not buy a euro rail pass or book online unless it’s imperative to your journey that your schedule can’t change.
Other than that – enjoy. Train travel is still a wondrous and well funded enterprise here, I only hope it gets better in the US someday.
